Hospital Santa Catarina of Blumenau, you feel well here.
HSC Blumenau was born of a dream. A dream that was only possible to achieve, because of the valuable help of the people from Blumenau. In spite of some misfortunes found along the way, on June 27 of 1920, the Lutheran Community opened the hospital with 50 beds in two wards, one for men and one for women. German deaconesses provided the nursing care.
As the years went by, HSC Blumenau built a story of commitment and pioneering nature. Huge investments in infrastructure, state-of-the-art technology, high-qualified professionals, and important alliances with partners have made it possible for HSC Blumenau to offer a differential medical and hospital care.
Nowadays, HSC has a total building area of more than 17,000 square meters. There are 146 inpatient beds, including 20 Adult ICU beds, 9 Neonatal and Pediatric ICU beds, 16 Urgent Care beds, 22 beds at the Mental Health Clinic, 19 PACU (post anesthesia care unit) beds, and 6 surgical rooms.
Hospital Santa Catarina employs altogether about 900 people – 40% of them are in the nursing team – and 325 physicians that are active in the Medical Staff (44 specialties). On average, the Urgent Care Center serves 3.800 people, and admits 1.100 patients monthly. Besides that, about 550 surgeries are performed as well.
To mark its history of commitment and pioneer spirit, HSC was certified to ISO 9001:2008 in February 2012. That was the result of many years of dedication, especially in the last decade, when the hospital started using worldwide recognized concepts in technical quality, management, and humanization in hospital care.
And in this endless pursuit of service excellence, HSC was also accredited by ONA (National Health Organization), in November 2013, as a consequence of the effort, commitment and dedication of all employees, partners and members of the Medical Staff.
